Princess Mosikare from Mabopane is a student from a known organization Katekani Community Project that was founded in 2015, located in Winterveld. Miss Mosikare talks about how this community project has helped her improve her life. “I started late February,2021. The content of the Life Skills that I was attending was very impactful in my life because it is all about personal development, communication, and job preparedness. So, I learned about how to make a CV, to communicate, how to develop myself because I was a shy person, now am better and able to communicate with other people,” said Princess.

Katekani Community Project is an organization made to empower the youth of Soshanguve as a whole. This organization offers the youth with four perspective pillars which are comprehensive information, social program, skills development, and entrepreneurial skills. “We normally saw that our youth is staying at home, and they don’t have a clue on what to do with their lives, so we wanted to develop them with our skills that we offer in our organization so that they can be fully developed and get job opportunities. Learnerships school wise” said Lebogang Mpjana the facilitator reasoning on why they started the organization in the first place.

According to Lebogang, Katekani Community Project is a non-profit organization, and they are getting their funding from the Department of Social Development, and it takes no costs to study and get the skills offered in the organization. “We don’t pay anything, the only thing that we pay for is the certificate lamination,” said Miss Mosikare to back Mr. Mpjana’s statement. “Katekani Community Projects does not only teach the youth about skills but at the end of the course the students get their certificates as proof that they are now skilled and were attending throughout the programme” said Lebogang the facilitator.
